Having a space that’s used only for working will help you to feel more focused. This way, every time you sit there your brain will immediately assume that’s time for work and it won’t be wandering about other things!
Keep your workspace organized, try to have everything you need for work there and you can even add some elements that remind you of your company or your job, you’ll feel motivated as soon as you look at them! But be careful with over-charging it, you don’t want to be distracted while working.
Schedule your day, get ready for work.
One of the biggest advantages of working from home is that you can schedule your day. Be conscious of how you feel while you start working in the morning or at night, try to see at what time you feel more productive. Once you have decided it, select your timing, and don’t forget to add breaks of twenty minutes every one or two hours. Breaks are incredibly important to keep the energy, a tired brain won’t be very productive.
Respect the schedule, create the habit. It will come the day when you don’t even have to tell yourself you need to start working, your body will be ready for it before you notice it.
Get dressed for work, DON’T WORK IN YOUR PAJAMAS!!
We’re all guilty for this, right? Waking up and going straight to the computer to start working. It might sound like is not that bad. But believe me, IT IS!
If you wake up, get out of bed and go immediately to the computer to start working, your brain will not be set in “working mode”, he’ll just assume you’re still in a sleepy mood and it will affect your performance.
You want to be focused and full of energy to get the best of you during these hours.
Wake up early, take a shower, get dressed for work (you don’t have to wear a suit and tie, try to pick comfortable clothes but something you would wear to go out), have breakfast (or dinner, depending on the time you chose to work), stretch a bit before starting and then you can go, you’re ready to start working!
Remember it’s all about finding the perfect balance between comfort and productivity. If you don’t feel comfortable you won’t be at your 100%. Try, experiment, and if you don’t like the way it was, then go ahead and try again until you find your perfect mode!
