How do I keep my Solar panels clean?

By: SolarPowr

People often have many concerns when they start to think of changing to solar energy, and one of them is: “Is it complicated to clean my panels?”.

And here is the answer: Absolutely not!

Keeping your solar panels clean could not be easier. And the best part is that you don´t even have to pay someone else to do it!

Here we tell you the best way to clean your panel in three simple steps.

  1. Use water only

You only need to pour water on your panels in order to remove dust and other kinds of dirt.

DO NOT use soap or any type of detergent on the panels. Just let the water gently remove all kind of waste that may have fallen on your panels.

DO NOT step on your panels while washing them. They are made of really strong materials, but they cannot take the weight of a person standing over them.

     2.   Dry them with a towel

To dry out the remaining water of your panels, you can simply use a towel or just a piece of clean fabric. Is as easy as it sounds.

     3.   Wash only the upside part of the panel

Since it is the only part exposed to the elements, is the only one that really needs to be washed.

IMPORTANT

Make sure to wash your panels in the early morning or during night time while the panels are cold. On a sunny day, they may reach temperatures over the 50°c, and pouring cold water on them could cause a thermal shock that could damage your system. Therefore you need to be careful and wash your panels while their temperatures are still low.

That is how you keep your panels clean. Just pour some water and dry it out. It’ easy, cheap, and you can do it yourself. Clean them every four months, or whenever you feel it´s necessary.
